Dr. Sirong Lu’s research interests lie in the area of characterization of quantum materials, transmission electron microscopy and ab-initio calculations. He studied the surface structure of several metal oxides as a master student in 2011-2013 at Tsinghua University. He studied two-dimensional electron gas at interface between SrTiO3 and various nonmagnetic/ferromagnetic/ferroelectric oxides as a Ph.D student under the supervision of Prof. Martha McCartney and Prof. David Smith in 2013-2018 at Arizona State University. His research involved combining several of TEM techniques, such as TEM/STEM imaging, EELS and electron holography, with DFT calculations. A hyperspectral unmixing software “unmixeels”was developed for energy-loss near-edge structure analysis. He worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the research computing department in Arizona State University in 2018-2019, collaborating with faculty on sponsored projects to provide engineering, mathematical, and statistical support and Co-developing business model for support of this field. He joined SUSTech in 2019.
